How much theory can architecture take? Or to put it another way: How can philosophical and cultural theoretical approaches help prospective architects in their understanding and handling of architecture? This course is first and foremost a theory clubbing. The aim is to get to know different positions and to reflect and discuss them with regard to the personal understanding of architecture. The starting point is the simple assumption that architecture is much more than planning and (re)designing spaces: architecture is intervention and a performative act – architecture is interaction with a multitude of spaces, such as social, cultural, political, religious, virtual and speculative space.
Methodologically, the seminar is process-oriented in order to be able to respond to the needs and interests of the participants. Depending on the number of participants, the first and second sessions serve as introduction and orientation. The further course of the seminar will also take place here. The literature and suitable music will be announced in the first session.
